We embed STEM-style teaching in our curriculum and encourage our Girl Bosses to develop strategy, planning, and creativity in a supportive environment. Though there are almost endless permutations that lead to a successful or winning chess game, in the end, the goal is to compete and win. These are values that often evade girls, yet so much of life includes competition. Learning to compete by taking risks and making mistakes are core to the growth of all children. These are traits often valued in young boys but seen as unbecoming in girls. Girl Boss Chess is working to change that dynamic.

The data is clear, only 14% of girls aged 15 consider themselves confident, which is 27% lower than boys at the same age. This disparity needs to change fast. Our Chess Educators are accomplished women in many facets of life and are dedicated educators or elite chess players and professionals, so your girl can learn from women leaders. As we know, when girls see women in positions of power, they believe it’s achievable for them too.
