Learn To Play Chess Level 1 (ages 9-13)
This camp is tailored for girls with a basic grasp of chess fundamentals but seeking formal instruction. Each day, participants will learn new concepts that they can apply when they play daily games. The program finishes with a friendly chess tournament and a presentation about women in chess. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion, marking the beginning of their chess mastery journey.
What they will learn:
Safe attacking and defensive tactics
Checks/checkmates
Castling
Opening principles
Position evaluation and basic-to-advanced tactics
Two-fold attacks
Recognising hanging pieces
Endgame scenarios
By the end of the course, students can confidently play chess through to checkmate, understanding the rules of the game.
Course Prerequisites: Students must know how the pieces move
Course Duration: 75 minutes for five days
