Flavia Cancio-Bello

Flavia is a cheerful and creative teacher. Her students enjoy and have fun throughout their chess-learning journey. Her teaching style focuses on empowering the student to make the best decision in any circumstances. She graduated from the University of Havana as a translator and interpreter in English and Italian.

Before becoming a coach, she played competitively, winning many national championships in Cuba and obtaining remarkable results such as second place in the 2012 Pan American U-20 Championship in Brazil. She is a WFM (Woman Fide Master) with the wish to help increase the number of girls and women involved in chess at all levels of the game.
