Emily Robinson
With over a decade of chess training and competition as a fierce female player, Emily’s passion for female empowerment in the world of chess is unmistakable. Combining her chess background with her education in psychology, sociology, and art therapy, and participation in feminist movements at the University of Windsor, Emily has the drive, determination, and education to help empower young girls through the game of chess.
Emily started playing chess at the age of seven years old, joining her school chess club not knowing anything about the game. She immediately fell in love with the beautiful art that is playing chess, and soon became a force to be reckoned with. Emily became one of the only female players in her hometown, and went on to take second place at many Ontario Youth Chess Championships, as well as second place at the Canadian Youth Chess Championship.
Emily has been teaching beginner level private and group chess lessons for eight years now, and has had students go on to compete at provincial and national tournaments. In her lessons she is engaging, patient, approachable, and energetic.
When she’s not training for an upcoming tournament, Emily is either working on completing her graduate degree in Art Therapy, camping with her partner and cat, or spending time working on a new art piece.
