Chess for Seniors and Ambassadors

Seniors and Ambassadors will master the essentials of chess with STEM at the Gap Academy during an intensive 2-hour online session. By the end of the class, they will understand the basic movements of each chess piece, learn how to read and navigate the chessboard and be introduced to the mechanics of check and checkmate and advanced tactics. They will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills by mastering the fundamental movements of pawns, knights, bishops, rooks, queens, and kings and gaining proficiency in reading and understanding the chessboard layout. The skills gained will extend beyond chess, helping them apply critical thinking and strategic planning to academic and real-life situations and boosting their confidence in tackling new challenges.
